Zhangjiajie Introduction

In 1992 Zhangjiajie was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique geological features, and since then it has become a favored tour destination for Chinese and Asian tourists. In 2009 the release of Avatar, with its Zhangjiajie-esque scenes, attracted more and more Westerners. Zhangjiajie has a great potential to rise and become one of the top ten tour destinations in China.

Phoenix Ancient Town, an old town built up in Qing Dynasty, is still being kept in its original appearance with 300 years passed. Mountains, water and blue skies prevail the area of beauty. It was praised as "the Most Beautiful Town of China" by famous New Zealand writer Rewi Alley. It's a wonderful example of what villages were like prior to the onset of modernization.

How to get there from Zhangjiajie:

A. Taking a train from Zhangjiajie to Jishou, then transfer to Fenghuang by bus at bus station of Jishou

B. Taking abus from Central Bus Station of Zhangjiajie to Fenghuang directly.
